The Minister for Covid-19 Vaccine Deployment, Nadhim Zahawi has confirmed that the vaccines being deployed across the UK appear to be working well against the Covid-19 variants, helping to save lives and reduce pressure on our NHS.  Even with other variants, where a vaccine may have reduced efficacy in preventing infection there should still be good efficacy against severe disease, hospitalisation, and death.  Receiving a vaccine is, therefore, vitally important for protecting our healthcare system.

Whilst it remains the case that people expecting to receive an appointment letter are asked not to contact their local GP practice or hospital; if you are aged 70 or over, or have previously received a letter saying that you at high risk from Coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable) you can book a vaccination appointment online and do not need to wait to be contacted by the NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/.

If you are concerned that friends, neighbours or family members have not yet received their vaccine and ought to have done so or have questions that you would like to raise about the local rollout you can email: bswccg.vaccinequery@nhs.net
