The Farrington Gurney Parish Journal, March/April 2022

February 6th marked the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s accession to the throne and the commencement of celebrations to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee this year.

The May Bank Holiday Weekend this year will be moved to Thursday 2nd June and combined with an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3 June to provide a four-day weekend to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee - the first time any British monarch has reached this historic milestone.

Celebrations will take place nationwide and include the Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) and the lighting of Platinum Jubilee beacons on Thursday 2nd June; a Service of Thanksgiving on Friday 3rd June; a Derby at Epsom Downs and Platinum Party at Buckingham Palace on Saturday 4th June; and The Big Jubilee Lunch and Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday 5th June.
