AUTUMN UPDATE

The Farrington Gurney Parish Magazine, Sept/Oct 2021

Parliament returns on 6th September after the summer recess.  As we continue to open up both domestically and internationally this will be echoed in the Houses of Parliament.

By the time the new terms start, both for schools and universities, everyone ages sixteen and over will have had the opportunity to receive at least one vaccine – as the rollout expands down the age groups.

The Health Secretary, Sajid Javid, has now indicated that the United Kingdom’s autumn booster campaign will start in September, as a third ‘booster’ vaccination is offered to over thirty million people over the age of fifty and those are clinically vulnerable.  It is likely that this will be carried out at the same time as flu jabs.

Whilst it has been confirmed that more than 75% of adults are now fully vaccinated, I would like to echo other Ministers in urging those who are not yet vaccinated to come forward as soon as possible as vaccination is key to enjoying freedoms in safety.
